There are different kinds of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is analyzed and a determination is made regarding which teeth will have to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal capability and appearance return and one just carries on as usual. Typically implants can be used to further support the dentures.
It is very important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the type of food you are able to eat, your confidence in social situations, as well as your self-confidence.
A Few Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the very same arch
- Restore chewing ability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other procedures
An upper complete denture will usually feel better than a lower full denture. In order to drastically enhance the fit of a lower full denture, we regularly suggest using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and considerably enhance comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has actually been in use for a number of years.
