SAME DAY DENTAL CROWNS

At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may be asking, what are same day crowns and what can it do for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have now been using this technology for many years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that permits us to change damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in just one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look and feel like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single visit, normally in about an hour.

So what is the treatment?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We eliminate the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth product and scan the prepared tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and begin working on the computer.

Everyone enjoys seeing the pictures of their teeth and the developing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent out to the milling device.

Everybody asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth is not built up layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the device, which is much stronger.

The block is then exactly carved to produce your new restoration, which is fantastic.

Finally, the custom made crown restoration bonded perfectly into the tooth, strengthening and sealing it at the same time and after that we clean up!

We have to ensure that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital imagery of locations needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be utilized for a full range of indications: veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns and anterior crowns.

The Discussion For Today Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
