  • No need to get a temporary crown

  • Digitally matches the color of your tooth

What Is A Dental Crown?

A crown is a cap made to cover a tooth with the function of restoring it to its natural size and shape or to enhance its appearance. To get ready for the crown, dental practitioners drill to eliminate the decayed area and also form the tooth to prepare for the crown for that part which lies around and above the gum line.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital imagery of areas needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to produce your crown.

CEREC can be used for a wide range of indications: partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.

Today We Will Be Going Over:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify problems early). Often deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also trigger the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal treatment. When this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not recover by itself. It can even weaken the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be very unpleasant. Signs that the pulp has become infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no symptoms are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. When the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Usually a core build-up and crown is recommended for recovering a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
