Dental Bonding (Composite)
Bonding is a treatment where we use a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to harden, and polish it. It can be utilized in certain situations where a tooth has been broken or become stained. These are usually minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this relatively affordable methods rather than through a more costly dental procedure.
Here's How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to modify the positioning of the tooth, close spaces in between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material adheres to the surface. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to obtain a shiny finish as a last step.
