Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with many dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
