Three Reasons To Ask About Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown positioned over one of your teeth previously, you know that the procedure normally involves a minimum of two visits to the dental practitioner and the positioning of a short-term crown before you getting your permanent one.

However, there is a new procedure for installing crowns that can enable you to get a permanent crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown devices permits crowns to be created right there beside the dentist's chair.

Have a look at a couple of reasons that same day crowns may be right for you.

Natural Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made entirely of ceramic, eliminating the requirement for metal. While metal crowns are perfectly practical and safe, they're frequently thought as less appealing than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable option, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown machines can match the crown precisely to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Time And Money

Every hour you invest at the dental practitioner's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or responsibility.

Having to return to the dental practitioner's office multiple times for one treatment may indicate getting time off at work approved for more than one day, hiring a sitter for more than one day, or filling your automobile with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

However you take a look at it, multiple dental appointments cost you money, in addition to what you're spending on the dental procedure. Getting everything carried out in one appointment saves time, and time is money.

Saves More Natural Teeth

The machine used in the same day crown procedure takes a digital scan of your tooth and after that is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the specific specs provided by the digital scan.

This allows the dentist to maintain as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest choice for your jaw.

This also enables the dentist to use the device to produce inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you require more protection than a filling will offer but less than a complete crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements supplied by the same day crown machine, teeth that might once have needed a full crown may now be candidates for just a partial crown.

If you know that one of your broken teeth will most likely need a crown, be sure to make an appointment with our dental practitioners today.

Today's Subject Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery might be required to repair a severely damaged joint.
