There are different types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is analyzed and a determination is made as to which teeth will need to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are put in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular functionality and appearance return and one just continues as usual. Often implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.
It is necessary to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the kind of food you have the ability to eat, your confidence in social situations, as well as your self-esteem.
Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the very same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other procedures
An upper full denture will usually feel much better than a lower full denture. In order to considerably improve the fit of a lower full denture, we regularly recommend utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially enhance comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for a number of years.
