What Are Single Visit Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dental practitioner can financially bring back damaged teeth in a single visit using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a unique camera to take an precise image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD innovation to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Technology Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has actually been eliminated. This new technology has over a decade of clinical research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and effective.

Today's Topic Is:

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a metal device created to replace missing teeth. The device is typically made out of titanium and is surgically placed into the jawbone where the teeth are missing. An implant is permanent, unlike a dental bridge.

Crowns and conventional bridges or dentures might not be your only options when replacing missing teeth. For some individuals, dental implants offer a smile that looks and feels very natural. Surgically put below the gums over a series of visits, implants connect to the jawbone and act as a base for bridges or a denture, individual replacement teeth.

Implants provide stability because they connect to your bone, a procedure called osseointegration. Integration of these implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel more natural and some individuals also find the secure fit is more comfortable than traditional replacements. Candidates for dental implants need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant.

What's Involved In Getting A Dental Implant?

A dental implant may be an option to replace a missing tooth. In this procedure, a small titanium shaft is surgically {placed|implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which in addition slows or stops the bone loss that takes place when the root of a natural tooth is missing. When the implant is securely embeded in the mouth, the dental practitioner then works to connect the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution has the advantages over bridge work that it does not need the surrounding teeth for support, and, should the tooth wear out, another can simply be replaced on the shaft.

Implants can also be utilized as support as part of an implant bridge. This is an option to partial dentures, and has multiple benefits. First, there is no adjustment period to acclimatize the client who, as soon as the work is done, only feels teeth, not metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, this slows the bone loss occasioned by missing teeth. Third, there is no discomfort or trouble in eating. And, best of all, of course, they do not need to be taken out all the time.
