Same day crowns are a dental restoration device that permits a dental practitioner to produce an indirect ceramic dental restoration using computer-assisted technologies, including 3-D photography and CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing).

Same day crowns allows dental practitioners the flexibility to fix teeth in a single sitting with a client, rather than the multiple visits required with other techniques!

Same day crowns have been shown by hundreds of clinical research studies and is offered by countless dentists to millions of patients all over the world each year!

Same day crowns not only conserves you money and time, it can also conserve your teeth!

Dental X-rays are unable to penetrate metal crowns, making any decay undetected up until it was far too late.

Same day crowns use a strong porcelain that x-rays can penetrate. This means any degeneration beneath the restoration can be found and treated before it becomes a big issue.

Because same day crown technology use a milling device to mill the ceramic into your custom-made restoration, the porcelain is stronger than those developed by hand. And, the computer-assisted innovation can create an nearly similar restoration of the previous tooth.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface area restoring it to its initial sizes and shape. A crown protects and strengthens the tooth structure giving the tooth a longer life span than it would have if restored by fillings or other types of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are utilized to cover a tooth that is most likely to break, or is too broken down to be recovered with a filling. They are most commonly done after root canal treatments, or when a huge filling wears out. The larger the hole made by a cavity that needs to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed. Even after a filling is put in a large cavity, a tooth is more likely to break. Remember that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the human body. Teeth are subjected to tremendous pressures. Crowns ride over the weakened tooth, providing strength and securing the tooth against breakage. A busted or cracked tooth is a far more severe matter and much more hard to treat. Crowns prevent this, as well as making for a nice smile.

It takes two visits to recover a tooth with a crown. In the first visit any decay is removed from the tooth and it is shaped to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. In between the two visits the crown is made, generally of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or gold. A short-term crown is worn throughout this time. In the second visit this temporary crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed and then cemented in place.

Exactly What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown treatment typically requires two appointments. Your first appointment will include taking impressions that will be utilized to create your custom-made crown. A mold will also be utilized to produce a temporary crown which will stay on your tooth for roughly 2 weeks until your new crown is produced by a dental lab.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by getting rid of any decay and shaping the surface area to properly fit the crown. As soon as these details are achieved, your short-term crown will be put with temporary cement and your bite will be examined to ensure you are biting properly.

At your second visit your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be thoroughly positioned to make sure the spacing and bite are precise.

You will be given care instructions and encouraged to have routine dental check ups to inspect your crown. As always, appropriate oral hygiene will help extend the life of your brand-new crown.
