If You Want A Crown This Probably Is The Best Route To Go

Getting a crown has long been known to be a two-visit dental experience. Many individuals have no idea that this is not the case with same day crowns. For our lucky clients, getting a crown only takes one appointment!

The Traditional Two Visit Way

At the very first visit, impressions are taken of the tooth and the impression is sent to a laboratory so that your permanent crown can be made. Lots of people dislike the goopy impression products that can make them gag and that takes up to five minutes in their mouth to set.

Then your tooth is shaved down so that your crown can be put on top of it. Then you receive a short-term crown cemented over the shaved tooth to hold you over until your long-term crown arrives from the lab. Then later, you need to go back to the dentist, have the short-term crown removed and the new crown put on your tooth

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital imagery of locations requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to make your crown.

CEREC can be used for a broad range of indications: anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns and posterior crowns.

The Topic Of The Day Will Be:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of most clients, there are a number of methods to bleach teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will whiten teeth significantly. Since tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use a number of techniques: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the lab fabricates into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of everyday use. 3 various strengths of gel might be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really fast and practical bleaching procedure. The appointment is roughly one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients love this treatment because it is so simple and quick!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays need to be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
