Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy usually involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
