Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like most dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
