What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new technology that a dental expert can financially restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a top quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dentist uses a unique camera to take an precise photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD innovation to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically produces the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Technology Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer have to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard second visit has actually been removed. This brand-new innovation has more than a decade of medical research and documentation to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and effective.

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a badly damaged joint.
