There are various types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is examined and a determination is made regarding which teeth will have to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are put in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal functionality and appearance return and one just carries on as usual. Typically implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.
It is essential to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you are able to eat, your confidence in social scenarios, as well as your self-esteem.
Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other procedures
An upper full denture will usually feel much better than a lower complete denture. In order to significantly enhance the fit of a lower full denture, we frequently suggest utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially enhance comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be placed in the jaw after a denture has been in use for multiple years.
