Why Choose Single Visit Crowns?

There are numerous advantages of single day crowns over traditional crown technology.

  • Time: Same day crowns are made in one visit, conserving you considerable time away from your job and family.

  • Convenience: With same day crowns, there is no requirement for a temporary crown, which removes significant possible pain and inconvenience of a lost temporary restoration. Only one visit means only one injection, or no injections if the tooth was previously treated with a root canal. No traditional impressions resulting in no gagging.

  • Looks: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of this brand-new technology restores your teeth to their natural durability, appeal, and function and closely match the structure of natural tooth structure.

  • Strength: Milled ceramic is tougher than the standard technique of layering and pressing, so your smile will remain lovely for years!

  • Fillings: Same day crown material and innovation can also be used for fillings. Because they are made out of porcelain, they are more durable than white composite fillings. They are much more aesthetic than mercury containing silver fillings and stronger because of bonding technology.

If you have any more concerns about same day crowns or porcelain crowns, please don't hesitate to contact our office today. We will address any concerns you have and you can make an appointment to speak with our dentist in person.

Today We Will Be Going Over:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a terribly damaged joint.
