Why Choose One Day Dental Crowns?

There are lots of advantages of single day crowns over traditional crown technology.

  • Time: Same day crowns are made in one appointment, conserving you significant time away from your job and family.

  • Convenience: With same day crowns, there is no need for a short-term crown, which eliminates significant possible pain and inconvenience of a lost short-term restoration. Only one appointment means only one injection, or no injections if the tooth was formerly treated with a root canal. No conventional impressions means no gagging.

  • Visual appeals: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of this new innovation restores your teeth to their natural strength, charm, and function and carefully match the composition of natural tooth structure.

  • Durability: Milled ceramic is tougher than the traditional method of layering and pressing, so your smile will remain beautiful for years!

  • Fillings: Same day crown material and technology can also be used for fillings. Because they are made out of porcelain, they are more durable than white composite fillings. They are much more aesthetic than mercury including silver fillings and tougher because of bonding innovation.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that covers the whole tooth surface area restoring it to its initial shape and size. A crown protects and reinforces the tooth structure giving the tooth a longer life span than it would have if recovered by fillings or other types of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is most likely to break, or is too broken down to be brought back with a filling. They are most typically done after root canal treatments, or when a large filling breaks. The bigger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed. Even after a filling is put in a big cavity, a tooth is more likely to break. Bear in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the human body. Teeth undergo incredible pressures. Crowns ride over the weakened tooth, offering strength and protecting the tooth against damage. A broken or split tooth is a far more severe matter and much more tough to treat. Crowns prevent this, as well as producing a good smile.

It takes two appointments to bring back a tooth with a crown. In the very first visit any decay is removed from the tooth and it is shaped to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in producing a crown. In between the two visits the crown is made, usually of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic product, or gold. A short-term crown is used during this time. In the 2nd visit this short-term crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed then cemented in place.

What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown treatment usually requires 2 appointments. Your first visit will consist of taking impressions that will be used to develop your customized crown. A mold will also be used to create a temporary crown which will remain on your tooth for approximately 2 weeks up until your brand-new crown is produced by a dental laboratory.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by getting rid of any decay and shaping the surface to properly fit the crown. When these details are accomplished, your short-term crown will be positioned with temporary cement and your bite will be examined to guarantee you are biting correctly.

At your second visit your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your brand-new crown will be thoroughly placed to ensure the spacing and bite are precise.

You will be given care directions and encouraged to have routine dental check ups to inspect your crown. As always, proper oral hygiene will help extend the life of your brand-new crown.
