Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with most dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method generally involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
