Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with most dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
