Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like most dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
