Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers might at some point need replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
