Normally, acquiring a crown for a damaged or degrading tooth is a long process that involves a number of steps and possibly a number of days of wait time before you get your new tooth.

A same day crown makes it possible for you to walk in to see a dentist and walk out with your brand-new tooth currently in place. If you have a dental practitioner offering same day crowns and are anticipating your appointment, it is likely that you will have some questions about the procedure.

Here are a few of the biggest concerns about same day crowns and the answers you will wish to know.

How is a same day crown any different from a regular dental crown?

The truth is, there is not a great deal of difference in the process to obtain a same day crown.

The only difference is the fact that you will not be sent home to wait for your long-term crown to be produced by a dental laboratory, as the crown will be made in the dental office while you are there.

This eliminated the time-consuming procedure of being fitted with a short-term crown then later on refitted with the permanent crown when it is finished.

How is it possible for a dentist to produce a long-term crown during your appointment?

With improvements in dental technology, if a dental practitioner has the right devices in the office, together with the best skill, they can develop the new tooth from a strong piece of ceramic while you wait. This takes place using a device that takes the direct measurement of the mouth and existing teeth and transforms it into an actual prosthetic from the ceramic using precise computer technology.

Besides the apparent advantage of less time to finish, what are the advantages of same day crowns?

Same day crowns allow you to avoid the whole step of a temporary crown, which can be a pain to take care of and might be prone to removing with simple oral hygiene, such as flossing and brushing.

Because whole steps are eliminated from the crowning procedure, such as several dental visits, you may even save some money to have a new same day crown put on.

To walk into a dentist office and leave with a new crown in one visit is an ideal and logical option for clients who need help with a damaged tooth.

Today We Will Be Discussing:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of the majority of patients, there are a number of ways to lighten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will bleach teeth dramatically. Because tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple techniques: custom made tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory makes into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of everyday use. Three various strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the higher the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is recommended for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take numerous months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very quick and practical whitening procedure. The visit is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients love this treatment because it is so simple and fast!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays should be used every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
