What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new technology that a dental professional can financially restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a premium ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dentist uses a unique camera to take an precise image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has been removed. This new technology has over a decade of clinical research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven precise, safe and efficient.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Composite Dental Bonding

Bonding is a treatment in which we apply a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be utilized in specific scenarios where a tooth has actually been damaged or become stained. These are generally minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this reasonably affordable means rather than through a more expensive dental procedure.

Here Is How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to change the alignment of the tooth, close gaps in between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is used so the material sticks to the surface. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to get a shiny finish as a last step.
