Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique generally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
