Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like a lot of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy usually involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
