Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
