There are various types of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.
The entire mouth is examined and a decision is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular functionality and look return and one just carries on as usual. Often implants can be used to further support the dentures.
It is essential to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared with natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you have the ability to eat, your confidence in social situations, and even your self-esteem.
A Couple Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the exact same arch
- Restore chewing ability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper full denture will almost always feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to considerably improve the fit of a lower complete denture, we often suggest using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially enhance comfort. Often, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for a number of years.
