Same day crowns are an advanced dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, broken, or cracked teeth. This technology can produce complete crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made of compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are more durable than lab restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of getting a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one visit. In addition to the advantage of a one appointment restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or a temporary crown to wear.

The treatment for positioning of a same day crown restoration is really simple. The initial step is to eliminate all degeneration from the tooth. The dentist will then shape the tooth in preparation to take a digital photo. The tooth is then sprayed with a very fine powder. This allows the digital camera to take an appropriate image. When this image is captured, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will permit the dentist to design the restoration right in front of you.

When the design is finished, the same day crown machine will mill the restoration. This step takes around 15 minutes. You can actually watch this procedure if you would like. When the restoration is finished milling, the dental practitioner will place the restoration on your tooth.

Today We Will Be Discussing:

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Since gum disease is typically painless, you may not know you have it. Also called periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of germs that is continuously forming on our teeth.

Here are some warning signs that can indicate a problem:

  • gums that bleed too quickly.

  • red, swollen, tender gums.

  • gums that have actually pulled away from the teeth.

  • persistent bad breath or bad taste.

  • permanent teeth that are separating or loose.

  • any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.

  • any difference in the fit of partial dentures.

There are lots of factors that increase the risk of establishing gum disease including smoking cigarettes, pregnancy, and diabetes. It is very important to go to your dentist if you think you have gum disease because the quicker you treat it the better.

The early stage of gum disease is called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums may become red, inflamed and bleed easily. At this stage, the disease is still fixable and can typically be removed by a professional cleaning at your dental office, followed by daily flossing and brushing.

Advanced gum disease is called periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis can result in the loss of bone and tissue that support the teeth and it may end up being more extreme with time. If it does, your teeth will feel loose and start moving around in your mouth. It normally gets worse slowly, but there can be periods of rapid progression.

Aggressive periodontitis is a highly destructive form of gum disease that takes place in patients who are otherwise healthy. Typical features include rapid loss of bone and tissue and may occur in some areas of the mouth, or in the entire mouth.

Research in between systemic diseases and gum diseases is ongoing. While a link is not conclusive, some studies suggest that severe gum disease might be connected with multiple other health conditions such as stroke or diabetes.

Routine dental examinations and periodontal examinations are extremely important. The treatment methods that most dentists diagnose will rely on the kind of disease and how far the condition has progressed. Good dental care at home is essential to help keep gum disease from ending up being more severe or recurring.
