Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
