A Couple Advantages Of Getting A Same Day Crown

Crowns are a very common dental procedure that is often needed when someone's tooth is broken or if the tooth has degraded to the point where a filling will not be effective.

Common crowns are fairly bothersome to obtain, however there is an alternative. Same-day crowns are a fantastic option since they are more convenient and lead to less discomfort:

Less Pain

A conventional crown can result in discomfort for a couple of reasons, but among the most significant sources of pain and discomfort is a result of having to wear a temporary crown.

A temporary crown is applied as a placeholder to protect your exposed tooth till your permanent crown can be delivered to your dental practitioner. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

The problem with a short-term crown is that they are not extremely strong, which means that they can break or come loose very quickly.

A damaged or loose short-term crown will expose your tooth to liquids and food, both which can cause a fair bit of discomfort if they reach the exposed nerves below the short-term crown.

Another source of discomfort originates from a loose crown rubbing along your gums. This rubbing can get to the point where it can get quite agonizing and start to bleed, which also opens up the path for potential infections.

Luckily, a same-day crown will provide you with a long-term crown at the end of your very first appointment to the dentist.

This gets rid of the requirement for a temporary crown, hence enabling you to prevent all of the pain and discomfort.

More Convenient

A conventional crown is not a very hassle-free procedure to have carried out, mainly because it normally takes a minimum of two visits to finish.

If your short-term crown is broken or falls off, which is common, you will have to make another visit to have it replaced. This can be a big issue if you have a hectic schedule on your hands, or if you have a job that discourages taking some time off in the middle of a busy work day.

However, a same-day crown can be finished in a single day, with a single appointment. This is made possible because lots of dental practitioners will purchase the devices to make their own crowns, instead of having to purchase crowns from a dental lab.

This lets you prevent the inconvenience of having to potentially invest weeks and several visits to your dental practitioner before the procedure is over and finished with.

Speak to your dentist and inquire about the benefits offered by a same-day crown. A same-day crown can offer you with a hassle-free and fairly pain-free alternative to a conventional crown.

Today's Conversation Has To Do With:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
