Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
