Single Visit Dental Crowns - A Smart Innovation

We aim to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are happening in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown innovation in our office. It allows us to produce crowns and bigger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most advanced dental innovation, consisting of 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM innovation. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The entire procedure takes between 1-2 hours and can be completed in one sitting.

Usually, a crown in the past would have required two appointments. The first visit consists of preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a short-term crown. Throughout the second appointment, the short-term crown is replaced with the permanent one. With a same day crown, the entire procedure can be finished in simply one visit. We will use video imaging innovation to take a photo of the tooth and use CAD/CAM technology to design the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly sent to a milling machine that carves the restoration out of a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the new crown to your tooth. This eliminates the need to get a temporary in addition to a second visit.

Restorative dentistry procedures can be very important to the general health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a visit.

Same Day Crowns Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of areas requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to produce your crown.

CEREC can be used in a full scope of indications: anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns and posterior crowns.

Today's Topic Is About:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery might be required to repair a severely damaged joint.
