Composite Dental Bonding
Bonding is a procedure where we use a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be used in specific circumstances where a tooth has been damaged or ended up being stained. These are usually small repairs, ones that can be resolved through this reasonably affordable methods instead of through a more pricey dental treatment.
Here Is How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter the alignment of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is used so the material adheres to the surface. Then the material itself is placed on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to get a shiny finish as a last step.
