Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day need replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
