A crown is a cap made to cover a tooth with the purpose of restoring it to its natural size and shape or to enhance its look. To prepare for the crown, dental practitioners drill to remove the decayed area and also form the tooth to prepare for the crown for that portion which lies around and above the gum line.

Today's Topic Is:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of the majority of patients, there are a number of methods to bleach teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth bleaching system that will whiten teeth significantly. Because tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple approaches: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory makes into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of day-to-day use. Three various strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the greater the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is advised for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really fast and practical lightening process. The visit is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment since it is so easy and fast!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays must be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
