Same Day Crowns

Same day crown technology plays a vital function in our practice. This amazing innovation in chair side dentistry gives us the tools to develop, produce, and position crowns, inlays and onlays in a single appointment.

The Same Day Crown Difference

The standard method to a crown or inlay and onlay often needed a return visit after the patient waited (with a temporary restoration in the tooth) for about two weeks while the restoration was produced in a separate laboratory. Same day crown CAD/CAM technology eliminates the wait!

How Do Same Day Crowns Work?

Same day crowns utilize a special camera to take an precise photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dentist utilizes CAD (computer-aided design) software to create the restoration.

Then CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) takes over and immediately mills the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the brand-new restoration is bonded in place.

The entire process takes about one hour, and there are no annoying temporaries or second appointment needed!

Proven Technology

With twenty years of clinical research study and more than 20 million restorations performed worldwide, same day crowns have proven to be a an efficient, safe and hassle-free technology that we are delighted to offer to our clients.

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a badly damaged joint.
