There are different kinds of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is examined and a decision is made regarding which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are placed in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular performance and look return and one just carries on as usual. Typically implants can be used to further support the dentures.
It is necessary to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you have the ability to eat, your self-confidence in social circumstances, as well as your self-confidence.
Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper complete denture will almost always feel much better than a lower complete denture. In order to drastically improve the fit of a lower full denture, we often suggest utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly enhance comfort. Sometimes, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for numerous years.
