If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or want to eliminate unattractive metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be an excellent choice for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we offer on a case by case basis to clients who would benefit from the treatment. They enable clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a temporary crown placed then another visit set up for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new innovation that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and resilient and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may differ between the two and you may want to discuss your budget too with the your dentist. Your dentist will go over with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a suggestion based upon your particular situation.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Topic Is:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify issues early). Often deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be harmed to the point it requires root canal treatment. When this occurs, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not recover by itself. It can even deteriorate the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be really painful. Signs that the pulp has actually ended up being infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no signs are apparent and the individual is unaware of any problem till a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. Once the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for bring back a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
