Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers might at some point need replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
