The Advantages Of Getting A Same Day Crown

Crowns are a typical dental treatment that is often needed when someone's tooth is broken or if the tooth has actually deteriorated to the point where a filling will not be effective.

Common crowns are relatively troublesome to obtain, however there is an alternative. Same-day crowns are a fantastic option due to the fact that they are more convenient and result in less pain:

A Lot Less Painful

A traditional crown can lead to pain for a few reasons, however one of the most significant sources of pain and discomfort is a result of needing to have a short-term crown.

A short-term crown is used as a placeholder to safeguard your exposed tooth till your long-term crown can be provided to your dental practitioner. This can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.

The issue with a short-term crown is that they are not very strong, which means that they can break or come loose really quickly.

A busted or loose temporary crown will expose your tooth to liquids and food, both of which can trigger a fair bit of pain if they reach the exposed nerves below the short-term crown.

Another source of pain originates from a loose crown rubbing along your gums. This rubbing can get to the point where it can get fairly painful and begin to bleed, which also opens up the course for possible infections.

The good news is, a same-day crown will offer you with a permanent crown at the end of your first visit to the dentist.

This gets rid of the need for a temporary crown, hence allowing you to avoid all of the pain and discomfort.

More Convenient

A traditional crown is not a very practical treatment to have performed, primarily since it normally takes a minimum of two visits to complete.

If your short-term crown is broken or falls off, which is common, you will need to make another visit to have it changed. This can be a big problem if you have a busy schedule on your hands, or if you have a job that discourages taking some time off in the middle of a busy work day.

Nevertheless, a same-day crown can be completed in a single day, with a single visit. This is made possible because many dental practitioners will purchase the devices to make their own crowns, instead of having to buy crowns from a dental laboratory.

This lets you prevent the trouble of needing to possibly invest weeks and numerous visits to your dental practitioner before the procedure is over and finished with.

Speak to your dental practitioner and ask about the advantages provided by a same-day crown. A same-day crown can provide you with a convenient and fairly pain-free option to a standard crown.

Today We Will Be Going Over:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a treatment where we apply a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be utilized in specific situations where a tooth has been broken or ended up being stained. These are typically small repairs, ones that can be resolved through this fairly inexpensive methods instead of through a more expensive dental treatment.

How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to modify the positioning of the tooth, close gaps between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is used so the material sticks to the surface. Then the material itself is placed on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to obtain a lustrous finish as a last step.
