Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are multiple methods to bleach teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth lightening system that will lighten teeth significantly. Because tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.
Most dentists utilize a number of methods: custom made tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.
The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the lab makes into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of daily use. Three different strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the greater the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see substantial color improvement.
Our in-office treatment is a extremely quick and convenient whitening process. The visit is roughly one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment because it is so simple and quick!
Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up might be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays ought to be used every couple of months.
Reasons For Tooth Whitening:
- Yellow, brown stained teeth.
- Normal wear of outer tooth layer.
- Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).
- Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
