There are different kinds of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is examined and a determination is made about which teeth will have to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are placed in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal functionality and look return and one simply carries on as usual. Often implants can be used to further support the dentures.
It is very important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the type of food you have the ability to eat, your confidence in social situations, as well as your self-confidence.
Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the very same arch
- Restore chewing ability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper complete denture will almost always feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to drastically enhance the fit of a lower complete denture, we regularly suggest utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially improve comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be put in the jaw after a denture has been in use for multiple years.
