How Can Same Day Crowns Benefit Me?

With this brand-new technology it allows dentists to custom-craft restorations in just one hour. With this, we can make natural looking crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers here in our office while you relax. Now, there is no longer a need to make multiple trips to the dentist's office to be measured and fitted with temporary restorations - you can take pleasure in a fantastic, natural looking, and long lasting solution for your missing or broken teeth today.

First, your dental practitioner will consult with you to talk about the information of the treatment. During the procedure, the dentist will apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special camera to take an image of your tooth.

Using the new software, the image serves as a map to create your tooth's restoration. Then, it will use a diamond bur and disk-work to produce your restoration piece from ceramic.

Lastly, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

It makes your teeth stronger and more stunning - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the top-quality ceramic material is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of areas requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

Today's Discussion Has To Do With:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
