Same day crowns are an advanced dental technology that is used for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth. This technology can create full crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown device crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made of compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are stronger than laboratory restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most useful feature of getting a same day crown restoration is that it is accomplished in one appointment. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression product to bite on or a short-term crown to wear.

The procedure for placement of a same day crown restoration is extremely simple. The first step is to remove all decay from the tooth. The dentist will then form the tooth in preparation to take a digital photo. The tooth is then sprayed with a very fine powder. This permits the digital camera to take an acceptable image. Once this image is captured, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will permit the dental practitioner to create the restoration right in front of you.

Once the design is finished, the same day crown device will mill the restoration. This step takes approximately 15 minutes. You can actually view this process if you would like. When the restoration is finished milling, the dental practitioner will position the restoration on your tooth.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of locations needing restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used for a broad scope of indications: posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and partial crowns.

The Discussion Of The Day Will Be:

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Due to the fact that gum disease is usually pain-free, you may not know you have it. Also referred to as periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of bacteria that is continuously forming on our teeth.

Here are couple warning signs that can indicate an issue:

  • gums that bleed too quickly.

  • red, swollen, sore gums.

  • gums that have pulled away from the teeth.

  • persistent bad breath or bad taste.

  • permanent teeth that are separating or loose.

  • any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.

  • any change in the fit of partial dentures.

There are many factors that enhance the risk of establishing gum disease consisting of smoking cigarettes, pregnancy, and diabetes. It is important to visit your dentist if you believe you have gum disease because the sooner you treat it the better.

The early stage of gum disease is called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums might end up being red, swollen and bleed quickly. At this stage, the disease is still fixable and can typically be removed by a professional cleaning at your dental office, followed by everyday flossing and brushing.

Advanced periodontal disease is called periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis can result in the loss of bone and tissue that support the teeth and it may end up being more extreme with time. If it does, your teeth will feel loose and start moving around in your mouth. It generally becomes worse slowly, but there can be periods of fast progression.

Aggressive periodontitis is a highly damaging kind of periodontal disease that happens in patients who are otherwise healthy. Typical features include rapid loss of bone and tissue and might occur in some areas of the mouth, or in the entire mouth.

Research between systemic diseases and periodontal diseases is ongoing. While a link is not conclusive, some research studies indicate that extreme gum disease may be associated with a number of other health conditions such as stroke or diabetes.

Regular dental appointments and gum examinations are very important. The treatment techniques that most dental professionals diagnose will depend upon the type of disease and how far the condition has actually progressed. Great dental care in your home is necessary to help keep gum disease from ending up being more severe or recurring.
