At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may be asking, what are same day crowns and exactly what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have actually now been using this technology for many years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that permits us to fix broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in just one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that feel and look like natural teeth can be made and placed in a single visit, normally in about an hour.

So what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the method the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth material and scan the readied tooth.

After this we stop working in the mouth and start working on the computer.

Everyone enjoys seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent out to the milling system.

Everybody asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't developed layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the machine, which is much more durable.

The block is then precisely carved to produce your new restoration, which is wonderful.

At last, the custom made crown restoration bonded seamlessly into the tooth, reinforcing and sealing it at the same time then we tidy up!

We need to make certain that you can bite properly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

The Topic Of The Day Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a terribly damaged joint.
