At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, exactly what are same day crowns and exactly what can it do for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have now been using this innovation for multiple years and like it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that allows us to change broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in just one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that feel and look like natural teeth can be made and placed in a single appointment, typically in about an hour.

So exactly what is the treatment?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We eliminate the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth product and scan the prepared tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and begin working with the computer.

Everybody likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the developing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent out to the milling unit.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't developed layer by layer, it is cut back from a block in the device, which is much stronger.

The block is then exactly sculpted to produce your brand-new restoration, which is wonderful.

At last, the customized crown restoration bonded perfectly into the tooth, enhancing and sealing it at the same time and then we clean up!

We need to ensure that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital images of locations needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to make your crown.

CEREC can be utilized for a broad range of indications: onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers and inlays.

Today Were Going Over:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can lead to tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both types of fillings, however find that a lot of their patients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide great sturdiness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to stand up to moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this might result in a smaller filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, frequently allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling procedure and they go through stain and staining in time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend significantly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to repair front teeth that have chipped or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is typically much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
