Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to many dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
