Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
