Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
