At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, what are same day crowns and what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have actually now been using this technology for multiple years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that permits us to fix damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in just one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look and feel like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single visit, normally in about an hour.

So what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the method the teeth bite together first. We eliminate the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth product and scan the prepared tooth.

After this we stop working in the mouth and start working with the computer.

Everyone likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the developing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent out to the milling unit.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't developed layer by layer, it is cut back from a block in the machine, which is much stronger.

The block is then precisely sculpted to produce your new restoration, which is great.

Finally, the custom made crown restoration bonded seamlessly into the tooth, reinforcing and sealing it at the same time then we clean up!

We need to make sure that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of locations requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be utilized for a broad range of indications: anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns and posterior crowns.

Today's Topic Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery might be required to repair a severely damaged joint.
