Why Select Same Day Crowns?

It is very important for a individual to have a strong and healthy set of teeth. However, there are some cases where dental cavity development is inevitable. It is often caused by the person's diet, habits and hygiene. Cavities that are not managed early may trigger extensive damage to the tooth's enamel which might need a dental crown to restore its natural appearance and function.

A dental crown is a cap formed like a tooth which is used to cover the tooth that has actually gone through extensive damage triggered by dental cavities. Getting it normally needs 2 dental appointments. Throughout the first visit, your broken tooth is cleaned and the decayed part is eliminated. The dental practitioner will then get the impression of your tooth that needed the crown and will send it to a dental lab where standard dental crowns were made. It could be made from a metal, ceramic or porcelain material. Only during the 2nd visit, your custom-fitted dental crown is cemented to your broken tooth.

With the development in dental innovation, the procedure of getting and wearing a dental crown has been made readily available. Dental practitioners use the new technology in making inlays/onlays, crowns and veneers. After your damaged tooth is prepared, they will use an intraoral camera that will take the picture of your broken tooth and have it submitted to a computer. It will use a computer-aided design in taking the digital impression of your teeth and the impression is transferred to the computer-aided manufacturing device which will mill a color-matched ceramic block to your same day crowns. Picking a same day crown over a standard dental crown has its advantages and downsides.

The Topic Of The Day Is:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of the majority of clients, there are a number of methods to whiten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth lightening system that will bleach teeth significantly. Since tooth bleaching just works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists use multiple techniques: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory makes into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of everyday use. Three different strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is recommended for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and practical lightening procedure. The appointment is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients enjoy this treatment because it is so simple and quick!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be used every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
