Today Were Talking About:

Composite Dental Bonding

Bonding is a procedure in which we use a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to harden, and polish it. It can be utilized in certain scenarios where a tooth has been damaged or become stained. These are normally small repairs, ones that can be resolved through this fairly affordable means instead of through a more pricey dental procedure.

How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to fix damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter the alignment of the tooth, close gaps in between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material sticks to the surface. Then the material itself is placed on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to obtain a shiny finish as a last step.
