If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or want to eliminate unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good alternative for you. Dental Crowns cover the outter surface of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would gain from the procedure. They enable patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a temporary crown placed then another visit scheduled for the positioning of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to get the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are really strong and resilient and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be suggested for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may vary between the two and you may wish to discuss your budget too with the your dentist. Your dental practitioner will discuss with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based upon your particular circumstance.

Call us to set up a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

The Conversation For Today Will Be:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
